A formally-issued identifier for the person.
For many systems, the identifier is the key piece of information about an individual and therefore an important part of the Core Vocabularies. However, all identifiers are context-specific and when exchanging data between systems it is important to provide additional information that makes this explicit. People may have any number of identifiers. For example, an individual may be issued with identifiers for everything from social security to club membership.
