The type of index number used in the statistical production process.

Index type refers to the various indices used in the statistical production process (Laspeyres, modified Laspeyres, Paasche, Value-Added, Fisher, Tornqvist or other indexes). Important features in the construction of an index number are its coverage, base period, weighting system and method of averaging statistical results.
